Last updated: October 2026
This notice explains how we handle the details you give us when you book a place at the Storyteller Morning (also called the Storyteller Masterclass) at The County Hotel, Chelmsford, on Wednesday 28 October 2026. If anything is unclear, email privacy@cheertv.co.uk.
1. Who we are
Cheer TV is a trading name of Cheer Interactive Television Group Ltd, registered in England & Wales, company no. 09909782. Registered office: 1-2 Charterhouse Mews, London EC1M 6BB. We are the data controller for the information described here.
2. What we collect
- Your contact details: name, telephone number, email address and postcode.
- Your booking: whether you are bringing a guest, your guest’s name if you give it, and any dietary or accessibility needs.
- Your topic: the knowledge, craft, hobby or memory you would like to explore.
- Your choices: whether you asked for Cheer TV news, and when you booked.
- How you found us: the advert or link you followed (for example “Facebook” or a partner’s referral code). This is not used to identify you.
3. Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To arrange your place: confirm your booking, give the hotel catering numbers, arrange access and parking, and phone you before the event. This is necessary to provide the booking you asked for.
- Dietary and accessibility needs: these can sometimes reveal health or religious information. We use them only to arrange food and access on the day, and only because you chose to tell us. Leave the box empty if you prefer to tell us on the phone.
- Your topic: to plan the table conversations and, if you are interested, to talk to you about the November Presenter Academy. This is in our legitimate interests in running the event.
- Cheer TV news: only if you ticked the optional box (consent). You can withdraw it at any time by emailing us or using the link in any email.
- How you found us: to understand which adverts work (legitimate interests).
We will not sell your details, and we will not make automated sales calls.
4. Cookies and similar storage
The booking page keeps what you type, and the link you arrived from, in your browser for the current tab only, so nothing is lost if you open this notice and go back. It is deleted when you close the tab and is not a cookie.
We may ask whether you agree to a Meta (Facebook) cookie that tells us whether our adverts led to bookings. It is set only if you choose “Yes”, and you can change your mind using “Cookie choices” at the bottom of the booking page.
5. Who we share it with
- The County Hotel: catering numbers and any dietary or access needs, and your name on the welcome list.
- Our hosts, Brian Naylor and Brian Thornton: the welcome list and your topic, so they can plan the morning.
- Service providers working for us under contract: Hetzner Online (servers in Germany that store bookings) and Google Workspace (email).
- Meta: only if you agreed to the advertising cookie described above.
Where a provider processes information outside the UK, the transfer is covered by UK adequacy regulations or by appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
6. How long we keep it
We keep booking details for 30 days after the event to deal with any follow-up, then delete them. If you asked for Cheer TV news, we keep your name and email address for that purpose until you unsubscribe.
7. Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your information, ask us to correct or delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, and withdraw consent. Email privacy@cheertv.co.uk and we will reply within one month. There is normally no charge.
8. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO): ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, telephone 0303 123 1113.
